absent parents

My daughter is nine and i have brought her up by myself and now with her stepdad for the last four years. She feels her other dad doesn't care about her because he doesn't contact her at all and makes out i am stopping him. She is very upset and doesn't want to see him so do i support her?

The best place for you be in this mess is to always remind your daughter that her biological father loves her and it may be hard to understand why he doesn't visit, but that he loves her nonetheless. Also, let her know that you understand how much she is hurting and that you will do everything you can to help her relationship with her dad. Just don't fall prey to "bad mouthing" her dad or anything of the sort because it is a slippery slope and nothing good comes from it.
