My son is 7 months old and I want to know what other mommies are doing to stimulate their babies...or did do when their babies were within their first year. My son can already crawl and pull himself to standing...

We take him to the park but when my husband is not home, I don't have a car, so I want to know what sort of things do you laies do at home?

I am starting to do signing with him and we are going to make a little garden on our back porch so he can feel dirt...

But I am so limited on my ideas!

reading is good. the library is close by so i usually put my son (he's 7 months too) in the stroller and walk there...or walk around town. he loves looking at everything. there is a huge pond in the middle of town with koi fish and ducks and he likes to go see that. i have to say, the garden is a good idea. :) my son hates the grass...but we are working on that. haha.

Read, read, read, and read some more! Also, my daughter loved dancing with (and still does) at that age. Babies LOVE to feel different textures, so set down and take 5 minutes to let your child feel a wool sweater, a silk top, pot scrubber, so on and so forth. I used to put my daughter in her highchair once a week (besides meal time that is!) and put different food on her tray to explore with her hands, nose, eyes and of course...mouth! Some really fun ones are any baby food, jello, pudding, a piece of unfrosted cake etc etc. Makes for some really fun pictures too! If you're interested in more ideas other moms might have now AND in the future as your child grows I encourage you to look up my community called SAHM's are Teachers! (With the ! in the title) It's a community for moms like you and me who want to share ideas on fun and sometimes educational activities to do with our kids of all ages!!! Best of luck with your LO!!!

Alicia, your son probably still drinks formula. you can save the cans and put different objects that will make different sounds so he can shake them and listen to the different sounds. you can also use water bottles to put in rice or something small like that for him to shake up.
