Almost Drowning

I have a large family. Actually, I have a large, blended family which makes things even more complicated. I live in large, old, rental house in the center of downtown. With me, live my husband and son, plus my best friend, her husband, and four children, one belonging to both of them, the oldest three from his previous marriage. Two days a week, another 2 year old and her brother, 8 come over to play for the day.

All together, the kids are 19mos, 2, 6, 9, and 10.

We also have 5 cats, and two dogs.

My husband, and the other adults in our home are starting a business. They recently aquired office space and are generally gone from 9am-6pm or so.

I am a stay at home mom/aunt. I manage to keep up fairly well, as long as the kids keep up thier chores. Still, my house is not the cleanest house on the block, by far. I can keep it picked up but never have time to clean the floors it seems. When I do, it's dirty in five minutes.

Do any of you out there have any words of wisdom or advice that could help?

I have a large family, 8 kids ages 11yrs-1yr. I wash floors during naptimes or after everyone goes to bed. I just mop (swiffer) up spills when needed. I tidy and clean up at least 5 times a day (just a quick, pick up everything off the floor and put away) and sweep after every meal. It seems like all I do is clean, but as long as you stay on top of the crazyness it won't be so bad.

I have no words of wisdom on this...I can never seem to mop my floors. I would ask for help atleast one day a week see if the other couple would clean, or take their kids out so you can do it with less "help" (the help thats never really help)

Do the other adults in the house help? If Not demand it You are not the maid you shouldn't have to do everything yes they are working outside of the house but you are raising these 5 kids and that is not an easy task either.
