Anger Management Issues with Preschooler

My 3 year old has horrible anger issues. Each day he gets more and more hateful and is becoming very violent not only towards us but to his baby brother as well. He hits, bites, pinches, kicks, and even has tried to suffocate the baby. He knows exactly what he is doing, and no matter what type of discipline we use it has no effect on him. I've been separating him and the baby lately but that doesn't even work. He doesn't lack for attention and we've talked to his doctor about his behavior and all they said was to be firm with him. I'm at my wits end and I need help. Has anyone else gone through this?

Let me tell you I feel your pain! I have a son [who is now almost 7] and Im still dealing with his destructive behavior. Hes gone as far as wrapping cords around his own neck trying to choke himself during his fits of rage. Ive had counselors at the school work with him but in the end they say hes a happy healthy boy.....but i knew better so I talked to his pediatrician many times and now have been told i need to take him to a pediatric neurologist to undergo some testing to try to find the cause for his behaivioral problems. All I can say to you is DONT give up hope. Love on him as much as possible. Seek help from as many sources as you can. Get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion if your guts telling you to. And alot of doctors wont do anything for you because they havent witnessed the behaivior themselves so if possible try to record or videotape it so you can show exactly whats been going on. I hope you the best! There is nothing harder than dealing with an angry child.
