well I have a 13 month old son and I have 2 cook books that I love one I've used since he started on solid foods at 3 months (since I've always made my own baby food)  One is called "the sneaky chef" by Missy Chase Lapine it was on Oprah during the summer. I use it all the time.  and the other one is "Cooking for Baby"  I by Lisa Barnes  got it from williams sonoma. well good luck. kristin

I started both my kids on solids before the recommended 12 months because their peditritian told me to start introducing solids and once they tasted it they didnt care to eat the baby food anymore. Peas are great for that age because they can pick them up and do it themselves and don't need a lot of teeth to chew. I would mix the peas with mac and cheese and they loved it. I also cooked chicken breast then put it in the food processor until it was small enough they wouldn't choke, but wasn't pureed. Gerber has the gerber graduates that are finger food friendly. They can get a little pricey but if you print the coupons from gerber.com then that helps. For fruit I would make a smoothie and put it in their sippy cup or cup with a straw. Hope that helps some.....it's been a little while since mine were at that stage. :(

Quinoa.

It is a grain that you can make like oatmeal and have it sweet or with fruit or make it with veggies or however.

My son doesn't like the baby food either.  I keep low sodium chicken broth handy and make my son soups. I add vegies like carrots, potatoes, squash, etc, sometimes chicken and noodles.  Boil and add a little bit of tomato and onion finely chopped we are taking about a teaspoon of each. When vegies and chicken are cooked blend them in a blender or food processor until it's puree. My son loves it.  You can also buy canned soups but i don't recommend it because they do not have as much nutrition and they have a lot of sodium.

Hey there!  Baby food taste horrible (I tried it) I just made my own.  I used a blender and just cooked veggies and fruit.  I started adding more and more things so by a year he ate what we did only really chopped up.  I hope that this helps a little
