Hi, I am hoping someone has some suggestions.

Our son will be 3 next month. He has no problem going pee in the potty and staying dry all day/all night.... However, he has not once gone poop in the potty. He has been peeing and or staying dry for months but no #2. He does not have accidents he just doesn't go. He will ask for a diaper and then he'll go. We do travel quite a bit, maybe that's playing a big part in this, I know for him to be comfortable and familiar with his surroundings is what's recommended.

After he would poop in the AM I would put him in under ware and he would be fine all day. At night put him in the diaper and most often when he wakes he was dry.... After he went poop, I changed him and so on......

We've have tried not giving him a diaper and as I mentioned he just doesn't go and get's constipated.
Tried incentives, going to the arcade if he goes.... big boy talk..... let him pick the under ware and potty.

He really wants to go to school and I told him well there are NO diapers at school so you'll have to get out of the diapers first and that seemed to encourage him, like he wants to go in the potty.... then I recently read that this tacit wont work? And he still can't /won't go in the potty.

We're at a loss and just hoping someone may have some suggestions.

Thanks in advance.....

Thanks for the response Gina! We have tried the going in front of him. Both Daddy and I. I like the idea of the pull up and it actually being closer to his booty, maybe he wont like that feeling and we can make a change.
Regardless, were not going to push it and figure he will go when he is ready.
Thanks again as I am reading more on the site and learning I'm not alone in the least.
Happy Friday!

I just thought of another thing...kids learn by example. I know it might sound gross, but let him go in the bathroom with your husband @ that time.seeing what dad does might encourage him as well.

I know that boys are different then girls, but when my daughter was goin thru a similar thing at 2,we just let her walk around for a bit in a pull-up with #2 inside. we did that everytime she wouldn't use the potty, but it wasn't a punishment...we told her that she would feel better if it wasn't in her undies and eventually she got the hang of it. I know that means more work for you but if he doesn't want to feel yucky butt when he walks it might help him get used to pooing in the toilet. GOOD LUCK WITH ANYTHING YOU TRY!
