I just keep telling myself that I'm not the same person I was for my first, and this is not the same baby. So anyfears coming from my first birth/child experience are unfounded. Each birth and kid will be a bit different.

I was really confident going into my first child's birth, and then it was a two weeks late, 3 days long, back-to-back, chin up and facial presentation that ended in an emergency c/s. Joy.

I have a c/s booked for this next one, in 13 days time, a bit because of the first one, a bit because of my age, and a bit because he's huge and I'm not. But mostly because I just want more control and predictability. I can handle post-op pain, and am really looking forward to my appointment to meet the little guy.

I don't advocate for natural nor caesar births, it's just whatever your body needs and it's different for each mother and child, each time.

I also had a rough first couple of weeks with breastfeeding, which turned out ok for me, with a lactation consultant at the local child health clinic, and a very helpful husband, and a very patient child. But I know hat sh*t happens and things don't always go as planned, and I already have a can of my choice of formula in the cupboard, so I don't go insane in the middle of the night when my nipples are bleeding and my baby gets razor blades (or feels like it) in her mouth. and that's ok, it's all ok. And it's always the middle of the night that it gets the worst isn't it. But that was then, and this is now and it might be different this time, I just don't know, we'll see when it happens.

I just assume the best, and prepare for the worst and see how we go on the day.

My biggest concern at this minute is that this kid's going to burst through my belly skin, it's so tight and he kicks and pushes so dang hard!
