My son has always had a blanket, he sometimes would pull it up a little high, but never high enough to hurt... he hates having things over his face and since birth has always fought against anything being on his face. He gets that from his momma, I feel claustrophobic with anything covering my face. :) Use your better judgement, try one during a naptime, where you can supervise, if baby is very young then you might try a swaddler or sleeper, but if s/he is old enough to roll over, I'd say it's fine.... talk to a doc maybe if you're very worried.

Both of my girls were tummy sleepers,I know,I know, back is best...but I want sleep too. And they were both born close to winter,so, in my case from day 1.

They usually say not before a year.

My son has always had a mini blanket (less than a foot square), we just started putting a regular baby blanket in his crib a few weeks ago, at about 9 1/2 months.

My little boy was born during the cooler months so we put a blanket on him since he was born. He is a real kicker so they never stayed on too long, which is why we have now resorted to a sleeping bag :)

my kids used blankets from the time they were born. My second child is a winter baby so he has always had a blanket. I guess it depends on the child. My son never pulled his blankets up so i felt comfortable with him having one.
