My 9 month old loves watching Baby Einstein. I have been told by a mother that I am wasting my money on buying Baby Einstein material. Apparently, it has "been proven not to work, so some parents are outraged". What are your thoughts on it? Do you use it or have you?

My 7 mo daughter LOVES Baby Einstein, we check the videos out from our library. I just view them more as entertainment than an educational tool. After all...we do have babies and they learn through play. I don't think it's hurting them in the slightest to watch a little each day.

I've also read that children really aren't supposed to be watching television before age 2 because rather than help them develop their language skills, it can slow and stunt them. Their gross motor skills and such are already stunted a bit because they're sleeping on their backs rather than their tummies (thus the implementation of the Back To Sleep Tummy To Play campaign) now due to worries about SIDs (which has now been discovered to be possibly linked to a lack of serotonin in the brain).

We need to be more interactive with our children with reading and talking to them instead of letting our TVs babysit and raise them...

I let my little girl watch baby einstein, she loved it. It gave me time to take a shower while she was in her bouncer watching her "show". I dont really think that they did anything for her, however I got a shower every morning.

I bought a couple Baby Einstein DVD's at a thrift store, I put one in and my daughter looked at the TV for a while, but then crawled right over to her toys and played with them instead.

As for being proven not to work, I guess Disney is offering refunds to people who honestly believed their claim that the movies would make their kids smarter (did people really believe that...?), because studies have shown that the videos make no difference whatsoever to the child's intelligence.

We have used it alot, and my daughter who is now two (YAY!) loves it! No it wont teach your baby everything or babysit your child but if you watch it with your baby and point out similarities (i.e. Look you have 4 ducks just like on your movie) that makes the movie a teaching tool, plus when ever my daughter had a cold the first year or so she couldnt sleep unless she was up in her swing and she would watch baby einstien til she fell asleep to the music. And all of us moms know how miserable a cold is for a little one, to see her smile was a joy, even if it was 3 in the morning!

My oldest will be 3 next month. He didn't like the Baby Einsteins DVDs when he was a baby, but he really likes them now. My younger ones are 6 mo. old twins. They love BE. It works perfectly for me. Meaning nearly every evening l put the babies in their high chairs and put them in front of the tv while l make dinner and do other chores. l'd hate to be without them. They are expensive. Check at childrens resale shops if you want to own some.

It entertains my baby and makes him happy:) I don't care if it makes him a genius or not. I don't think its a waste of money at all.

hi, my daughter had 2 dvds when she was a baby, she really enjoyed them the bright colours and soft music, she had baby einsteind flash cards that she loves and we do them nearly everyday, she has a few of their books aswell.

i dont no if it works but she likes it, so to me thats all that matters,
she my clever little girl, walking at 10months, talking, toilet trained and shes only 22months.

if ur child like baby einstein then carry on buying it :)

We have some Baby Einstein stuff. Both of my kids enjoyed it when they were the age it's intended for. I think that's the biggest thing. If they're enjoying it, and it's age-appropriate, then it's a good thing.

We use to watch Baby Einstein when my kids were younger. They loved it and would watch it over and over. The colors and everything seemed to stimulate them. I was given one. And the rest I would get from the library since they are expensive. Good Luck!
