I started my son on cereal by like 2 1/2 months. He was stricly breastfed at the time and I started giving him a night bottle with cereal in it to help him sleep and it sure did! Then we went through he acting super hungry all the time so at about 4 1/2 months my doc said to start veggies then start fruits a month or so later. He is 6 1/2 months now and still doesn't have juice. I've heard that there is enough water in breastmilk and formula to keep them hydraded and if you feel they need more liquid to just do water since juice has so much sugar. Also I've heard that if they start having juice they will prefer it over water!

i'll tell you what our pediatrician suggest:
juice - better for them to learn to eat actual fruit instead
baby food - after cereal
rice cereal - 4 months (i think i did 6 months with both of my kids), this should be your babies first food. make it very soupy and watch as your little one learns how to eat. slowly you'll make it firmer. once s/he tolerates it well, then you can introduce baby foods. apple, banana, carrots and pear are the best to do first. they are least likely to cause reactions. do one food for 3 days and then do a new one.

You are going to hear many different responses to this question. American Academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting until the baby is 6 months to introduce any solids. Some people say giving cereal in a babies bottle will help them sleep, I don't know that this is true. I gave my son cereal off a spoon at 5 months (he is only breastfed) and he never slept through the night. This website has been helpful to me, maybe it will help you decide what is right for your little one.
I would also ask your pediatrician what they think about when and how to introduce solids into your baby's diet.

each people have their own thoughts on foods. i gave my baby cereal (in her bottle) at about a month. it helped her sleep through the night. my mother gave me cereal when iw as 2 weeks, it just settles in their belly and helps them stay fuller longer instead of just flowing through like a liquid. my baby did very well with it. i started baby food at about 2-3 months. shes enjoyed it very much. you should only start with fruits though if you are JUST starting with baby food, then going to vegatables, then meat. juice, my girl is almost 6 months and i'm just NOW giving her apple juice, i dilute it alot though. she doesnt like it so she doesnt drink it much. like i said everyone is different though, dont listen to the doctors though.. they tell you to wait forever before you give your child solids which he/she could starve by then lol either that or you will go broke with all the money you spend on formula.

I believe as long as your baby can eat off a spoon. I think my daughter started with cereal at 3 months and we started her with veggies just before 4 months. Kytalyn was starting to eat 8oz. bottles more frequently when we decided to start baby food and cereal, so she would be full. Juice on the other hand. We gave her juice but she was almost walking by that point. They usually say to dilute the juice as well.

Ages can vary, people will tell you one thing, but it really all depends on what ur baby is ready for. My daughter just now started drinking juice, and shes almost a year old. I believe its ok to start around 6 months for with juice, and anywhere between 4-6 months with the cereal and baby foods. I would recommend starting out with veggies first, and either mix the cereal in with the baby purees, or serve it alone and mix it with water or formula. Feel free to message me if you have anymore questions! Hope that helps!

well they suggest cereal at 4 months but my daugther started at 2 months due to acid reflux she was very good at eating from a spoon at that age that is whats most important. i have all kinds of different ages for juice but when she was 2 months old she was allowed up to 2 oz of juice a day mixed with 2 oz of water. baby food usually anywhere from 4 to 6 months is a good time to start make sure you have started cereal first. then you move to veggies do each veggie for a couple days in a row to watch for allergies after your baby has had all veggies you can move to fruit. as far as the meat everyones opinion is different but babies hate it and it often needs to be mixed with something for them to eat it. my ped recommended no meats until she is 8 months.
