Baby wants bottle all night long.

My 9 month old little boy wakes up 3-5 times a night for his bottle. He is a big, healthy boy. He eats 3 meals a day, with bottle in between. He gets dinner (cereal + fruit + yogurt) before bed and a bottle before I put him down. He has NEVER slept through the night. He wakes up every 2-3 hours, I give him a bottle (with CEREAL) in order to fill his belly. He drinks about 1.5 oz each time he wakes up. He wakes up again 2 hours later looking for more. He will go through an entire bottle (7 oz + cereal) through the various nighttime feedings. Our Pedi said that he doesn't NEED the food, he's used to it. This has gone on too long. What do I do? (He won't take a Pacifier.)

I had the same problem with one of my boys. He would wake up because he was used to eating at that time of night. My pediatrician told me I should just stop cold turkey...but I felt bad about that. So I started giving him less and less each night. For a few nights I gave him 4 oz then, 2 oz and finally he stopped waking up!

Good luck...

It sound to me like he is just waking outof habbit...especially if he is only eating an ounce ot two. It will be hell, I know, I was there with my first but you just have to cut him off. He will cry and scream but he will get over it. Mine did. (and my firstborn wouldn't take a soother either). Take a look at the No Cry Sleep Solutions book. I found it helpful. It gave a ton of solutions and allows you to pick and choose as to what will work for your family.
