Has any one tried to baby wise at 5 months and is it worth it? My daughter is already sleeping through the night but she does not nap. She will take one while nursing and sleep nurse but at times she does rub her eyes but other then that seems happy. But usaly ones its close to bed time she is ready for her 1hr nursing right before bed and is out. I am tired it just day to put her down for an nap and she cried her self till she started choking on her on spit up. It has scared me out of even wanting to keep trying this.

I never tried it at 5 months. We did something similar when my daughter was around 8 1/2 to 9 months old. Most of the information I've seen on Baby Wise and other sleep training methods is that the earliest you should think of starting it is around 6 months because by then your child is already starting to develop a sleeping pattern. The way we did it with my daughter is we let her cry for short intervals (1-2 minutes) and worked our way up to longer intervals (5-15 minutes). The most she ever cried was 15 minutes and she was sleeping 7pm-7am in a week. If your daughter is getting so distressed after only a short time it may be that she is still too young and/or the time frames are too long for her (another thing we did with our daughter is if she wasn't settling after a few minutes we would go in and calm her down by rubbing her back or tummy - not picking her up). Sleep training doesn't work for everyone, but it was a lifesaver for us.
