My daughter is 21 months old and we give her and her brother (3 1/2 yrs) a glass of milk before bed, in their sippy cups. My daughter wakes up in the night for a drink sometimes and I give her more milk,. She has been waking up with the worst breath ever! Even after she has brushed her teeth at night. Should I try a different toothpaste or no milk at night?

I agree...water is the way to go. My daughter LOVES milk...but I cut her off an hour before bed and then after she can only have water. If she really is thirsty she'll drink the water.

You need to give them water because the milk will rot there teeth. Its the natural sugar in the milk that decays the teeth. Only water after brushing.

WATER WATER WATER!!! TRUST ME!!! My 1st child loved juice. My 2nd loved MILK and both had teeth removed @ a young age. My 3rd child I got off the bottle early to prevent this. And she doesn't even like juice. WATER!!! Its hard but if your child is that thirsty they'll get use to it. U as a mom have to be a bit tough here, WATER!!!!!

Personally I don't think children should be falling asleep with any type of liquid. My kids don't get anything after brushing their teeth, it defeats the point of brushing htem in the first place if you are just going to give tehm a cup of milk.
