Bathroom troubles when starting solids

My daughter is 5 and some months old, and we have just started her on rice cereal (with water). She hasn't gone to the bathroom for two days now and has had some wicked bad gas (straining and crying when it comes). Is this a common thing when you start solids? Does it just mean she isn't quite ready for solids yet? She is really eager about it, but it seems like her digestive system isn't as excited for the solids as she is. What can I do to ease her pain? Is it better to stop giving her rice cereal, or will stopping it be even harder on her system? So far, we've tried the gripe water, the belly massage, and even some water.... nothing seems to be helping. I hate seeing her in pain like this! Any suggestions are appreciated!

We had the same problems with our now almost 9 month old daughter. Their little tummies just take a bit of time to adjust to the different things that they will be eating. If your daughter really seems to be having alot of trouble going to the bathroom I use Light Kayro Syrup which is sold just about anywhere put some on the end of her pacifier or bottle nipple or just the tip of your finger. It has always worked with mine within a couple hours and if not then you can always give them a little more. Do not get discourged about feding your little one just think about different things that you yourself eat and the different ways you digestive system reacts to them.
