So as off 3 weeks ago my son has been sleeping in his crib. He exclusivly breastfed and co-slept till he was 12 months. He just moved into his own room on sunday. He still wakes up from time to time for a few minutes or sometimes longer. The past few nights he was soaking wet and had a poop when i came to him in the morning. He doesnt usually ever poop. I dont go back in once he is in bed, unless he is hysterical or crying for more than 15 minutes which has not happened yet. I try to read his cries, but i feel like a faulire. How do i know when to go in, that he needs me? For teething, etc? If its ok to pick him up? rock him? I just dont want him to get the wrong idea, like everything i read says he will cry for me just for me to come to him. Hope this isnt to confusing. Any info helps. thanks

If my kids do this and I know there's nothing wrong, I make sure they are tucked in and tell them that it's bed time and they need to go to sleep. I have done this since they were little.
With mine I could always tell what the problem was from their cry.
Sometimes they will just cry because they want you, my 2 yr old still does it occassionally and I do pick her up, cuddle her and tuck her back in. Even my 3 yr old will wake up and come into my bed just because he wants a cuddle, but they still know that they need to be in their own beds.
A quick cuddle in the night has never done my 2 any harm or disrupted a routine.
