Just make sure that you don't try to many new things all at once. One new food per week. That way if there is an allergic reaction there is not guess work as to what caused the reaction.

We tried starting solids with my son at 4 months and he just wasn't ready. We decided to wait until he was 6 months old and things went much better. The first food we gave him was mashed avocados. He loved them! Another favorite was mashed pinto beans. I was able to find dehydrated refried black beans at a local grocery store. I continued to nurse him until he was a year old, but he also tried all sorts of solids!

I was told to start with baby rice cereal also,to make it very thin and to mix it with the breast milk or formula that i was already feeding. I was also told to start my baby out with the cereal in her bottle ,but i don't recomend that. If your wanting your child to go to food, use a spoon.

In my OPINION 4 months is a little too early to wean totally, just try the spoon food a cpl times a week until baby gets the hang of it.

I didn't start giveing my daughters spoon food until they were trying to take my food away from me while I was eating. With my oldest that was @ 6months old. My 2nd is almost 6 mos now and has been eating pureed friuts once a day @ dinner time for about 2 weeks.

my son was 4 mos and eating baby food, but he also had exsessive spitting up too... i know the first food i tried with peyton was green beans but my mother told me that was my favorite... maybe you can find one like banannas or that has more of a taste to reguar instead of very band.

It's not good for a 4 month old's gut to eat solids. Be patient and wait till at least 6 months.

I started my son on solids at 4 months. I would just give him a spoon or two of fruits. Then I moved on to veggies. Within a couple weeks, he was eating like a pro. When he first started eating solids, he spit it out so I would wait a couple days and try again.

I found it was good to start with very soupy rice cereal or oatmeal cereal. That way it's not too much texture or flavor right away, and you work your way up to thicker cereal, then pureed vegetables and fruits. It does take some time for them to get used to eating from a spoon, so it tends to be a little messy at first, but practice makes perfect:)
