I am going to get Mirena in two days and I am a little hesitant. I was thinking of changing the procedure to get an implanon instead. Both procedures sounds a little scary to me and I keep going back and forth. I just wanted to see what are your experiences with an iud or the implanon and which one you would recommend.

With Mirena it does have hormones in it so it could take a couple of monthes to regulate. Keep your appointment next week and they probally will put you on a high dose of estrogen because it will stop the bleeding. Be patient with the adjustment period it will get better. Once your body adjust your period should shorten and be less painful and you probally will actually skip monthes. When I had mine in I would get a period 3 to 4 times a year which will increase that intimate time with hubby. It will get better I promise.

So i got mirena about a month ago and I just had my first period on it. I have been on my period for almost 2 weeks. I was wondering if this was normal? I have been looking at alot of blogs and a lot of women say that this has happened to them and that it should regulate in a couple of months. I am just becoming really frustrated with it because i get cramps and sometimes it is pretty heavy. I wonder if i should just give it more time. Like most of the women say why be on birth control if you can't have sex with your partner. I also notice that my strings seemed lower. I don't know if i am freaking myself out but I really don't know if i am going to keep it. I have an appointment next week and i am considering removing it. What do you guys think?

i have the paragard iud its like the mirena but its hormone free, its good for 10 years instead of 5 and you can get it removed at anytime. the procedure wasnt horrible at all i was scared but it only took like 5 minutes and it was painless. i also recommended this to my sister and she is gettin her paragard on the 8th of september if you need anything else or have any ?s let me know

I always had an IUD and I loved it never had to worry about it and within about 6 monthes my cycles would almost completely disappear. About every 4 monthes and then only about 3 days very lite. When we wanted to have another one I was always pregnant within the first month of removal.

My sister and my girls have implanon. My girls did rather well a little extra spotting for the first 6 monthes or so. Their arms hurt pretty badly for about a month afterwards because it goes between the muscles in the arm. My sister had the worst part of it she continued to bleed for over six monthes she had to take other forms of birh control and estrogen to stop it. She had to do this for 12 monthes total and then they weaned her off the extra brth control. Now she gets her period every month for about 5 days. Now she loves it.

I hope this helps.
