Do things that are meaningful. She will have fun and fancy birthdays as she grows up but for the first one make it something you will enjoy. For example: my daughter's cake was made with the last remaining jar of strawberry jam from my husband's deceased mother. The cake for the rest of the family was topped with the same stuffed lamb that was on my baby shower cake a year before and I also put a baby picture on it from when my daughter was first born. Be sentimental, she won't let you do it in years to come... do it now.

Possible themes: winter with snowflakes and snowmen
character from a favorite TV show or book
castle and snow princess

A tiny personal cake for the baby is a must, that way she can put her hands in it without drooling on everyone else's piece, lol.
