Is anyone having or had trouble with their child biting? My 11 month old son has started biting and I'm not sure how to get him to stop. He was bitten a few weeks ago by a baby on a play date and shortly after started it himself. Help please? I'm open to advice on what you did with your kids or plan to do. Thanks so much.

I did a firm No biting, then put them down. It was kinda like a time out so they knew they did something wrong. after a minute or so I would pick them up and say biting hurts mommy.

Good Luck

When my son started biting i told him no and pinched his nose so he'd have to let go. It was uncomfortable enough for him to get the message, and he stopped really quickly.

When I was small my brother bit me, and my Mom bit him back! not hard to leave a mark, but just enough pressure to make him realise the pain he caused. It was very effective , coz he never bit again. My niece bit her sister on the tummy the other day, and made a teriible bruise! her mother smacked her hand and told her no. but this did not work, because she's still bitting!

My son started doing the same thing. It's less frequent now but we have tried to redirect his biting into kissing. This has helped but not all the time. When he gets too excited while we are playing he bites. I tell him no bite and walk away for a few minutes. He gets the picture but then again he laughs at me when I tell him no when he is trying to play in the dogs water bowl.
