Thanks. I use bleach once a week. The dr told me how to mix it so it wouldnt be hard on the lungs. I wait till he is asleep and put him in his room. I open the windows. I dont use anything with amonia in it. I use Mr Clean and pinesol.

Sorry to hear that. I know it can be scary. My son at 5 months just had RSV and the works of symptoms bronchitis, high fever, ear infection.. he could barely breath through it all and woule puke if I cleaned his boogers and wouldn't take any medicine because they gave us those stupid drops which he wouldn't swollow. He's okay now but all of that from a simple flu. So I know it can be scary :(

My boyfriend said he has heard of too much bleach causing pneumonia. I don't know, I just recently move out of my parents house in with my boyfriend a year ago when he had our baby and my parents are clean freaks. I have been less sick with my boyfriend, and when I go to my parents house I swell and can feel the difference right away.

Also don't know what other cleaning products you use but if you mix ammonia and bleach it can be toxic.

I hope your son will be okay

@Stevie. Thanks. The dr put him in asthma meds. I think they are going to do tests on him when he gets better. Its tough when kids are sick.
@Jennifer. Thanks He had a stomache bug too. It was awful. He caught pneumonia, bronchitis and strep throat 3 days after he got over the stomache bug. He loves to wash his hands. I have to keep the bathroom door shut at all times b/c he climbs in the sink to wash his hand ever 5 min. If he sees anything on his hands he freaks and has to was them. Ive made bleach, clorox wipes, and disinfectant spray my friend durring this flu season. I know I prevent him from getting everything. They havent hospitalized him yet. They should have the last time but they said with all that was going around that he would be better at home. I hate when kids are sick and you cant do anything to make them feel much better.
@Nichole. I know he needs exposed to more to build up his imune system. Im not scared to take him to the store. If I can prevent him from getting sick I will. When he was sick the last time, one of my nefews had the same thing and he died. I guess im just being over protective but I hate to see him sick.

I would expose him a little more. Why are you scared of taking him to the store?

You are not doing anything wrong. I thought the same thing this year, because of the illnesses going around my house. I have 4 kids, My oldest only had 3 stomach bugs, and a couple colds. My 6 year old had pneumonia, croup, ear infection, a stomach bug, and a couple colds. My 3 year old has had croup countless times, and pneumonia. My 6 month old has had RSV, pneumonia, and croup too many times to keep track of. Like you, I keep my house pretty clean. I make sure my kids wash their hands as soon as they walk in the door after school, after bathroom visits, after playing outside, after going anywhere, and before meals. I've used disinfectant spray on door knobs and sink fawcets almost daily, but still can't seem to keep my kids out of the hospital! I asked my pediatrician what I was doing wrong and she said it wasn't my fault, and I was doing everything I could to try to prevent the illnesses.

Aw...I'm so sorry your son is sick.

When my son was 21 months old we started child care while I was studying at the university and he got so sick. We had walking pneumonia, brochitisx2, croup within 6 weeks , I could not keep him healthy. He was diagnosed with asthma. He still has asthma but he is growing out of it. He had a predisposition because of his health history but it was a struggle.

But I agree symptoms linger and hopefully he got a different type of antibiotic since it sounds like this one wasn't wiped out!

I hope he starts feeling better.

The first time he had it, he had strep throat, pneumonia, and bronchitis all at the same time. He got over all that in about 2 weeks. We took a trip to our cabin for the weekend. We hadnt stayed there for a while so it was dusty. I cleaned it really good. He was around all my family and they were all caughing and had runny noses. We came home on sunday and tuesday he started caughing and lost his voice. I try to keep my house clean. Its not dirty. It has toys everwhere. i bleach everything once a week and scrub everything down. I alwyas make sure he is asleep and in hi room with the door shut when I do it and open the windows so the smell isnt bad. just hope since he has caught it twice in such a short time that hes not going to be prone to it. I dont take him anywhere usually. I will leave him here with his dad when I go to the store. If I cant prevent him from getting sick then I will. I just dont know how he caught it. Me nor his dad has been sick.

Sometimes when they 'treat' an infection or whatever and say it's gone..... it's not. I've been battling with bacterial infections and tonsilitis for years now. I get them almost 4 times a year. Short of them pulling my tonsils out, they say 'it's just a bacteria' give me pills and send me on my way again. It could be anything from dirt he's coming in contact with that isn't agreeing with him, shopping carts, who knowssss. It bites! But I would try a different medication this time for it (I know 1 that made my tonsilitis go away for 2 weeks then flare back up so it never really went away and how does a 2 year old explain this to you? :( he cant really) and then do a bit of good household cleaning and see if it helps any. Good luck, I hope it doesn't keep coming back that is no fun
