With my second pregnancy we could not hear the heartbeat until I was 16 weeks, so don't worry. Sometimes it cannot be picked up by the doppler if your baby is nestled in your pelvis. Congrats!

They're so little then so it's tough to get the sound. Can you explain how worried you are to your doctor? I was in a similar situation only a couple weeks further along - when you should have heard something. All 3 of the doctor's equipment was broken. They wanted to wait until the next week when they might have at least one fixed. I pretty much begged for the ultrasound. Thankfully, they let me.
I was a wreck with worry for the whole pregnancy. We both turned out fine, but the worry sure didn't help. Try to relax.

It is normal to not hear a heartbeat until around 11 weeks. I also had an ultrasound at 9 weeks to date the pregnancy and I saw the heartbeat on the screen, it was awesome. But I had a prenatal appointment 2 days later and they couldn't find the heartbeat with the doptone, ugh!
Try not to worry, just look forward to your next appointment when you will surely hear it!
It is so hard in the beginning because you can't feel the baby move, and you may not feel or look pregnant at all. The first trimester is the worst part (in my opinion), morning sickness, bloating, fatigue and food aversions. All that and you can't even feel the baby, and no one can tell you're pregnant! Ugh! It's so hard!
I am now 22 weeks pregnant, I also had a miscarriage the month before this baby was conceived. At 20 weeks, they still had a hard time finding the heartbeat! It was faint but I did hear it :)
Good luck Ana!
