can't sleep

My son woke up two hours ago and is asleep again, yet I can't. My mind keeps running a mile a minute and because I'm so tired I'm becoming harder and harder on myself as the night wears on. Any suggestions? This has been happening for the past three months and I'm getting "tired" of it. Thanks

Melatonin helps me, and tea is good, exercise gets you sleepy, but make sure to do it earlier in the day, or it can keep you up at bedtime...Intimacy also helps you fall asleep. White noise in the background helps adults as well as kids fall asleep. Don't get on the computer or watch tv if you are trying to fall asleep, it actually keeps you up longer. After my second baby was born I had the same problem, but mine was real bad, losing weight, anxiety, I couldn't fall asleep even when the opportunity came up, lots of tears, and odd thoughts...I spoke with my doctor, and she prescribed some medicine to help ease my anxiety, and help me fall asleep, not sleeping meds though.

I have terrible insomnia. Sometimes Melatonin helps. Or Sleepy-time Tea with Valerian Root. More exercise in general and more SEX!

Do you exercise? Try walking or exercising a few hours before bed, don't drink coffee in the afternoon, take a warm bath or shower. That always makes me sleepy. Is your baby sleeping in your bed? Sometimes that can keep you awake with the fear of rolling over on him or something. Try a sound machine to help you stay asleep, but not too loud so you can hear you little one wake up. I wouldn't take sleeping pills because you have to get up with your son when he needs you during the night or early in the morning. You don't want to drug yourself to the point where you can't wake up for him. Ask you doctor if he or she has any suggestions. I hear a lot of moms have this problem. I was just the opposite, I fell asleep while I was feeding my son. LOL. Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you.

Of all the things I miss from pre-children days, sleep is number one! Make a plan to deal with what's running through your mind, and hopefully that will ease it.

A cup of tea, soft music, and sometimes even prayer can help.

oh man, I've been there. I take two Panadol (Paracetamol), sometimes works to switch off a bit of my brain. I write all the things down that I think of that need doing on a notepad by the bed. In my mind's eye I watch myself floating in the water off the Isle of Pines on a warm day. Mmmmm



My mum used to just get up and iron, or do the things that need doing that were keeping her up.



You can play a game with your self and see how long you can lie still with your eyes shut and really pay attention to what is going through your head.
