Cereal for the first time!!! Need advice!!!

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

So my baby is 4 months old and still has a big appetite, I am going to start him on a little oat cereal in his formula for only once a day. How should i mix it? Is a medium flow nipple ok for it? Any other suggestions?

**I realize not all moms have started this early, this was approved by my pediatrician, so please no shady comments!! I just need advice from moms who have done it.***

Both my girls started eating cereal early once a day starting at 2.5 months with my first and my second is eating it about two times a week depending on how hungry she is. I was always taught from a bowl I tried a bottle with my second and she choked once so I did the bowl and a spoon.

I wouldn't put anything in a bottle besides formula. It will not help and do more damage then it will good. Yes it will help them stay fuller, and you won't have to feed as much and as often. My grandmother used to do this to my daughter, I put a stop to it as soon as I found out. It took me 3 months to get her to learn to actually eat baby food because she was used to the lazy way. Use a spoon and a bowl. If he won't take it he is obviously not ready.
