We are on vacation for another 2 weeks and my son has started playing with wires, trying to chew on them and sticking his fingers in the outlet. Here I'm at it's 220 v and the plug is different, his fingers actually fit! I turn the power off but he's figured out how to turn it back on it's just a switch. He takes the covers off, if my eye is off him 2 second he's there... I have screamed, smacked his hand, said no, don't do that it'll hurt you, pulled him away from it, just about every approach I can think of. We've been here over a month already, he hasn't stopped. What in the world can I do? At home all wires are hidden but not here....

my son is 1, if that helps. I swear he doesn't understand NO, or maybe it's just more fun to act like he doesn't

Thats a tough one, mine is 3 and he still does it. I think personally its all kids but especially boys...I dont know he responds to your reactions but with mine I just make a huge deal.... If i see him doing it I will kinda gasp loudly and say stuff like OH NO, thats a no no, its so dangerous... something about that word gets a response out of mine... OR if I show him what would happen by example (acting it out) but I would be careful with that cause he might think its funny.... which wouldnt be good lol! Othat than that you might have to resort to just giving him a VERY small area that he can be in... and explain why! (not sure how old he is)! hope this helped a little... its tough
