Quoting Erin:

go to the toy section and look at the toys marked 6 months and up, you would be suprised how many toys are available

Took the words right out of my mouth!  Your little person will be 6months before you know it!

They'll love anything at that age, especially the wrapping paper and curly ribbon.

You could get a keepsake, like a frame with 12 little photo holes for each month of his first year, or a My First Christmas ornament for the tree.

Once they can lift their head up on their tummy, or sit up, with or without support, a xylaphone, or little piano or keyboard, something they can hit with a drumstick and make musicsl sounds is good.

I've bought Charlotte a little Sesame Street piano, it has the proper keys, 2 octaves, I'm also considering a timber and aluminium xylaphone for her, she loves pushing things that make sounds, and no batteries.

I like the idea of a baby stocking too, with rusks, and baby pudding, and baby fruit sticks etc.

Just think: No plastic, No batteries, and have a look around the toy shop. This should reduce your choices a bit and you'll probably get something that will last.

A walker if he/she doesn't have one, teething toys, other small toys like the ones we all grew up on. The rings that slide onto that pole thing and stackable blocks.
