I agree with Denikka. She's old enough to sleep on her own. I don't co sleep with any of my children and I have a fantastic bond with all of them. We sometimes have sleepouts on the couch and watch movies as a special treat.

I can see why your husband would be uncomfortable, she's not a young child anymore, she's a preteen. I would question if it's really you that's uncomfortable with her not being with you at night. I know when you get used to having someone sleeping beside you that it's hard when they aren't there. With your husband working nights then it's nice to have your daughter there. On the weekends you have your husband back.

You can get a cot for her to sleep in your room, that way she's not on the floor and has her own little bed.

Or, you can transfer her into her own room and stay with her until she falls asleep. If you get a big bed, you can sleep there with her when her dad is gone.

I would suggest though, that it may be time to start encouraging her to sleep on her own. She'll be a teenager soon and will probably start wanting (and WILL need) her privacy and her own space. You can make sleeping with mom a special treat (combine it with movies and treats :) ). You can still have a special bond with your children, even after you stop co sleeping.
