My 4months old little one has been feeding on both breastmilk and formula from day one. We give Similac Advance with Iron then recently switched to Similac Advance Earlyshield which does him really good. My mom recently bought him a formula for night time feding which is Enfamil RestFul Lipil, they say that it's good for night time so babies won't wake up in the wee hours to feed since the said formula thickens gently in the baby's tummy making it slowly digested. Well, it sounded good to me so I tried it today. I gave Keiran his usual breastmilk and Similac during the day, then gave him a 5oz bottle of Enfamil RestFull. Just now, he woke up just after 2hours of his RestFull serving. I'm wondering now if what I did is ok and safe for him. Is it?

Mixing different types of formula isn't unsafe, it can just be hard on the digestive system if you are constantly switching, as in always buying what is on sale.

It takes about an hour for the formula to fully thicken so it may have just been a strange sensation for your baby. It also can cause more gas than normal formula because of the added rice starch so maybe try giving a dose of mylicon with it, that is what we ended up doing when we used it to make it work. Good luck.
