My pediatrician said 4 ounces of undiluted apple juice works. I tried it and boy it sure does work. Also make sure she is getting enough water in addition.

How old is she? Up her fiber content and liquids for any age. Activity always helps, a warm bath will help too.

Some kids get constipated when they are toilet training. They will hold it rather than use the potty and that just backs them up. Then when they do go, it hurts and is just terribly unpleasant leading to more holding it.

Regardless of age, it's good to visit with a pediatrician about this as they will have some good ideas and can help you if medication is necessary. The office nurses will also have some good ideas.

Ya, Danielle brings up a good point! You definitely need to figure out what's causing her to be constipated! You may need to change her formula etc...definitely ask her doctor at ur next visit!

its usually because of not enough fiber, not enough to drink or not enough activity. if its already been introduced you can give an ounce or 2 of prune or apple juice. or give more fruits with her food. (except for bananas). you can also try to increase her physical activity by moving her legs around and such.
these are all things you can do to get rid of the constipation. but it also depends on why she is constipated. if she is having the problem a lot you should definitely take her to the dr. because it could also be something more serious than a lack of something in her diet.

Water and/or prune juice! Prunes depending on how old she is? Fluids and exercise are great for anyone with constipation! Good luck!

Apple juice is very binding so avoid it. 2 to 4 ounces of pear juice helped my son immensely. I also fed him Gerber prunes at breakfast time.
