My daughter has been constipated a lot. Ever since she was on the iron drops. I thought it would get better when she go off but it has not. She will go maybe every 2 days. We give her more juice then what she normally has. That does not seem to soften her up much. It kills me to see her in pain.

My son was like that and the doctor had me add Karo Syrup to his bottle.

My doctor suggested a toddler enema when my daughter was all clogged up. Once we did that everything started working normally again. It was just a matter of getting what was in there all out first and then keeping up with the fruit / juices and such. I would suggest asking your doctor about that.

We give her prune juice but i don't know if that really helps. It seems she needs to drink quite a bit to really get anything going. We have given her suppositries but i don't like having to do it all the time. I will try the pear nectar. Also she was on Soy as a baby but when we went to cows milk everything was great until she was on the iron drops. Now she has been off for a few months still no change.

Have you tried giving her a suppository? That always works for me as a temporary fix. At least it relieves some discomfort. Also prunes and prune and pear juice is supposed to help.

Try rubbing her belly going in a clockwise motion, this gets the intestines working and pushing everything out. Keep doing it on a regular basis this might help i learnt in while in school, taking massage therapy and it works well in my little one when she gets like that! hope this works

pear nectar you can get it in the goya food section of your local gracery store. My son has had the same problem and we have tried kayro syrup, prune juice and laxitives and this was by far the best way to get him "unclogged"

My son was diagnosed lactose intolerant when he was only 3 months old . I was worried because he only passed 'rock-type' stool . By the time his state appointed doctor took me seriously and gave me an appointment to bring him in, it was too late. The damage had been done. He had already developed bleeding hemeroids. He was switched to soy formula from breast milk and began having 'normal' bowel movements - although tainted with 'red' from the hems. He is 15 now and has outgrown the lactose intolerancy, but still suffers from the hems.

Kayro Syrup in Water or you could feed them some prunes! But of course there is always a liquid laxative you can buy at the store to help it go faster.
