My son is 7 1/2 months old and acts like he really wants to crawl. He'll flip over to his tummy and then move his legs like he's trying to move and gets frustrated when he doesn't get anywhere. I've tried putting toys just out of his reach but this eventually just makes him mad. Is there any way I can help him learn to crawl without him gettting so frustrated?

Thanks ladies!  When I hold his hands, he'll take a couple steps (as long as I help him with the first one).  He seems to like it better being upright.  We'll just see what happens.  I've tried the rolled up towel and he doesn't like that.

I used a rolled up towel/blanket to give my son something to push off of. Eventually he got the idea and started the army crawl. But again as every mother knows he will only do what he wants when his body and mind are in sync. Sounds like he knows he could do it now it is just coordinating his body to make it happen!  :)

Good Luck when he learns to get going. Life changes right there. ;)

I dont know but my daughter is 9 1/2 months old and she still isnt crawling. She eventually learned how to scoot her but in circles while sitting up or if she is in the crawling position she spins in circles. I've tried putting toys even her bottle out of reach (not for too long for the bottle, thats just torture!) but maybe your son will just skip crawling and start walking. Stand him up and practice that...

My daughter did the exact same thing, we called it the fish out of water. Her twin brother started cawling at 7 months and she would watch him and just do that then she would get angry because she wasn't going anywhere. We did everything to try to help her but she finally just did it on her own when she was nearly 9 months.

Sounds like you're doing as much as you can. He'll get there. I'm sure you've heard it a million times but babies develop at their own pace. You really cant push him into doing anything. He will learn it though!
