Crawling, but can sit up on his own

My mother is currently still in Iraq so she hasn't really been able to talk much. But what I don't understand is how is he able to crawl but unable to sit up own his own. He can sit by himself but as soon as he is on his back he's like a turtle. So my question is does it matter? He's also been putting himself up to. Is he moving too fast? My mother told me I did the same thing but I was already walking by now. My son is 7 months old, I started at 6 months.

Perfectly normal... so normal both my kids did things in that same order! Relax and enjoy it will come with time.

Don't fret too much, he'll get the hang of it. Just give him lots of time playing on the floor with toys he would normally have to sit up to get to. Eventually his muscles will build up with practice. Before you know it, he'll be sitting up on his own.

Every baby does things at their own pace. 7 months is pretty early to crawl. I have a friend who's little guy started crawling at about 7 months but he really wasn't ready to do it. He was very wobbly and ran into the coffee table all the time. My son didn't crawl till almost 10 months but he was very very good once he got going and is now fully walking (started just after he turned 1). Again, some babies don't walk till 15 months or later. It's all OK though. Your son will eventually sit on his own. He;s still very young.
