Every night, and sometimes even during the day, while my 7 month old cries hysterically in her sleep. I give her her pacifier and she passes back out again. She has been doing this since she was born and lately this has been happening twice a night. Is this normal? What causes this? Is she having nightmares?

My son did the same thing untill he was about 2. I was freaked out and went to my DR. about it, i was told it could be caused by growing pains and teething while he slept. It also could have been nightmares. He would usualy settle quickly if i rubbed his back.

probably. ask her pediatrician if it gets worse, but she might just need comfort. My 6 month old does the same thing abt 1-2 hrs after putting him down, and he falls back asleep as soon as I pick him up.
