I had my 3rd daughter at 2:10am and I was released that afternoon! I was only at the hospital 13 hours. We both were healthy and no problems!

3 of mine were premmies so stayed in longer with them as I was breastfeeding, Oldest daughter was in for a week and hated it, Middle daughter was born 12 noon, we were home in time for me to make tea, had a full load of washing in the machine by 6pm:) My middle baby was the most relaxing as I didn't feel torn between being with the new baby, and being with the older ones........lucky for me my husband was a star and brought them to hospital everyday when the premature ones were in scbu:)

I stayed at the hospital with my first baby as long as they let me. I went into the hospital in labor on Thursday afternoon, and I didn't go home until Sunday afternoon. I can't imagine having to entertain all of the visitors we had at the hospital in my home with a new baby.

Went in on Dec. 31st at 11pm with contractions 45 seconds long a minute apart, no I could not feel a single one after 46 hours of straight contractions had an emergency C-section were my uterus tore. So 4 hours on the operating table and 24 hours after that I was home!

I had a c-section so I definitely didn't go home the same day. They had me go home a day and a half after having my baby by c-section. And i was mad that they had me go home that soon because I definitely wasn't ready. Because I had read and heard that women who have a c-section should go home at least 3 days after having their baby. I gave birth in an Army hospital so they are ALWAYS VERY busy, They didn't say this but I knew it was because they had more patients coming in and they need more rooms. Even though I told them I wasn't ready and I was still in a WHOLE LOT of pain they still made me go home a day and a half later. Still upsets me as you can tell lol.

We stayed almost a full week, but definitely not by our choosing. I was induced almost 2 weeks early, there was something wrong with the placenta and our son was not growing much, born at about 5lbs. Just big enough to evade the nicu but he had some serious jaundice, and because of his size they wanted to watch him awhile. He also ended up having to spend almost 28hours under the bilirubin light non stop except for diaper changes and QUICK feeds. Much too noisy at hospitals and not enough privacy to get to know your own child. I hope our next stay is a couple of months is shorter!

No. With my 1st stayed 3 days, my second 4 (my daughter had to be monitored under the light) and my last 3 days. I think it depends on the hospital, how your doing, the baby, insurance. I don't know but i hear that you have to and should stay at least 24hrs so you can be sure you and the baby are good.

while the doctor was stitching me up, he asked when I'd be able to go home!!!! I left within 4 to 6 hours from the hospital with my two last children. Please though, don't over do it. Try to stay in bed with your feet up most of the first week...and do your pelvic floor excersises. Gravity isn't kind to us!!!

I had to wait 2 weeks before i could go home and i begged everyday to go home, but when I eventually did get to go home I wanted to be back in the hospital! It hits home hard when you step through that front door!

I would of loved that lol.On my first i had her Thursday morning and went home the saturday morning. My second i was in hospital 4days before she was delivered by c-section and i had her on a Tuesday morning and was home thursday morning i was meant to say till Saturday. There was no hope in that despite the doctors asking me to stay but when the main doc saw how well i was and not needing any drugs after the first day of having her the said yes.:)i was glad to finally get home to my five year old who i missed so much this was the longest we were apart.:)

I've had 3 children, all hospital births. I went home within 24 hours with the first 2. 48 hours after the 3rd because I had my tubes tied.

That is just how the hospitals rolled 2 decades ago. When my daughter gave birth 02/10/2010, she was in the hospital 3 days. I was told that was normal now.

A lot of things have changed in the past 2 decades ... we weren't encouraged to breastfeed, and also told to supplement nursing/feeding with water. We fed on demand, NEVER waking a baby to feed. Now they say feed every 2-3 hours, even if it means waking the baby.

WOW! Im so jelous... I went to the hospital at noon on May 27th 09 and my daughter was born at 4:40pm. We didnt get to leave until the morning of the 31st... 4 looooonnnggg days later. But its because she was a bit jaundiced an having problems feeding. My fiance practically starved and we both horrible back aches when we left because of our sleeping situation by the whole time (continuously sleeping in a rigidly hard "birthing bed" really sucks)

Yes I did, I was admitted for a prescheduled C-section and I was pushed out in a wheel chair holding a nine opound baby that they would not let the baby's father carry out the hospital because we were unmarried. i WAS ADMITTED AT ONE IN THE AFTERNOON AND RELEASED THE NEXT MORNING AT EIGHT.

I had a normal, natural birth with a midwife at a birthing center near the hospital, so I went home within four hours of my daughter's birth.

[deleted account]

I went home 24 hours after my first (she stopped breathing as we tried to leave 6 hours after she was born so we hung around a bit longer till we felt it was right), and I went home 4 hours after having my second. The midwives made us stay for the four hours otherwise I would have showered and left. :)

I went home the same day with my firstborn, my son and brought him back for the PKU test at the 24 hour mark. I had a normal vaginal delivery with no complications and was not able to rest at all in the hospital so my doc allowed me to leave early. The other 3 were a different story, but I would've prefer to leave the same day with them too:)

my first son was born three weeks early and also born with a really bad clubfoot so we stayed 4 days, they don't count the day the baby is born.with my second i had a planned c-section because of a 4th degree tear i had with my first.i was suppose to stay 5 days but begged to go home after three days cause i had a nine year old at home with autism. i regret not staying the full five days because when i came home the house was destroyed.lol

I actually liked staying in the hospital with my son. I was in NJ in a civilian hospital and th nurses helped me about a lot with my son. I had troubles adjusting since it was my first baby and i felt overwhelmed with the crying and nursing.
Plus they circumcised him on day 2 so we had to stay another day to make sure he's healing ok.
With my daughter i stayed 24 hours (as they require down here, we live in Texas) but i was in a military hospital and the baby stayed with me the entire time.
I'm glad i had a room alone with both of them though so it was pretty quiet :-)

Yes in Canada it's usually 24 hours now. It used to be 48 hours here. With my first i was out within 30 hours and my first i left 5 minutes after 24 hour mark. They have to check the baby's levels before leaving and it has to be done 24 hours after birth.

I had a midwife and would have been sent home after a couple hours if baby and I didn't need to check our insulin for the 1st 24 hours. Apparently it depends where u live too. I had him in Canada.

No I did the exact opposite. We stayed until they kicked us out. We had foxtel (like cable TV which we dont have at home), room service and the nurses totally left me alone after about 3 days. We had a little room like a small hotel room with a bathroom, little kitchenette etc, double bed for dad to stay and dad's get 3 meals a day too. I really could have gone home the second day but I told them I needed more time to adjust so that we could have a little holiday - no cooking, no cleaning, just me, hubby and baby hanging out all day. We stayed for a week.
