Do any of you ladies have any tips on getting my newborn to go back to sleep after waking up at 1AM?

I feed him, change his diaper, rock him, put him in his swing... nothing works!

Do you swaddle him at all? I bought a swaddler and would wrap him snugly in it. Normally he would fall asleep a few minutes afterwards while I was holding him.

I have a rocking chair in their room, so I feed in the rocking chair with just the nightlight on. Keeping it dark helps keep them low key and knowing it is still night time. I didn't change the diaper in the middle of the night unless it was a poopy diaper. That always wakes them up more. I used pampers swaddlers or huggies and never had a problem with them leaking at night. I also did what Ginny did. Rock a bit and then lay down and wait about 5 mins. and then if still crying repeat.

Hi! When my kids were babies I would feed them, rock them a bit, and then put them back in their crib. If they cried, I would wait a few minutes before going into their room, then go in and pat their back for a minute and then step out....wait about 5 minutes,if they cry again, then go back in, repeat. Add about 5 minutes per time until they learn how to soothe themselves. That worked for all 3 of my kids. Just remember, crying a little doesn't hurt them. As long as they are fed, clean, and loved they can cry a little. :) Good luck!
