im tryin to determine his temp from armpit thermometer, does anyone knwo wether you add 1 or 2?

it actually depends on the thermometer. some are designed to where you don't have to add anything and some are designed to where you do have to add a degree. if you have the instructions still it should tell you in there or you can google you brand of thermometer.

my doc said add 1 degree. my friend works in the maternal ward and she also said add 1

My doc always told me you add one degree to armpit temp. If you're unsure try calling an ask a nurse number. They can give you the correct info. I know BlueCross BlueSheild's number is 1-800-622-9524. Otherwise most hospitals have an ask a nurse line also.

I dont think you add anything if your thermometor was purchased any time recently. They haven't added anything to armpit temps for YEARS. In hospital all babies temps are taken under armpit and they dont add anything. Follow the instructions on the packet the thermometor came in, if you dont have it, get a new one and check with the staff at the pharmacy. I'm sure you will be told to take the temp as it is.
