it is what it is. if that's what you want to do, make it happen. My brother and I are 7 yrs apart tho, and didn't get along well as children. We get along alright now tho. He was also the youngest and the only boy, so I'd say the parents set the stage...

my sister and i are 7 1/2 yrs apart, there are ups and downs to having large gaps between ages. I have 3 kids of my own they are each appx 2 yrs apart, making my oldest and youngest 4ish yrs apart and the bond is different between them than it is with their middle sibling. I wouldn't say it was a bad thing for me growing up having such a gap, i learned alot about kids and grew up faster because i was relied on more. But my kids ( close in age) fight as much as my sister and I did.

There are only 5 years between my girls and even thats too much, my eldest doesn't play with the youngest and is always getting annoyed with her even though my youngest dotes on her big sister.

I believe so. My husband and his sister are 9 years apart and they didn't get along when they were little but they do now. Also my sons are 9 years apart, right now its nice because the oldest one helps me a lot with the littlest one.
