Does any other moms have any good ideas on how to get a stubborn almost 2 year old off the boob?

The same thing happened with my daughter. She insisted on being nursed until she was about 21 months. It was more for comfort than anything else. What finally worked for me, after all the weaning tips and tricks that were suggested, was just having my husband put her to bed at night for about a week. By the time that week was over, she was used to not being nursed anymore. We read stories to her at bedtime, and that helped to make the transition a little easier. Nap times were harder, because my husband works during the days, but I sent her for a nap with a sippy of juice, and eventually she didn't want anything for her nap.

My guess is that the nursing is not for food more for comfort. Try setting a new routine at bed and nap times. It is kind of a habit that has developed so you have to change the habit. Some kids fight the change a bit until they are adjusted to the change and others go with change rather easily.

Here is how I changed the habit with my daughter. At first when I was weaning her at bedtime I would sit in the rocking chair in her room (where I would usually nurse her) We would rock a few minutes, but I did not make it long. Then I would lay her down for bed like I had always done. Over time as she got more use to not being nursed I then added in reading books and rocking a little bit longer.

I breast fed until they were both around 5 months and i stopped producing a lot of milk due to stress and such, and i managed to do it by using 1/2 breastmilk 1/2 formula in a bottle, and in about a week they both were drinking 100% formula. You could give it a try anyways :)

I didn't breastfeed but I took my daughters off their bottle at 10-11 months but giving them sippys, maybe start with sippy 1/2 & 1/2 breast and regular milk then gradually increase the regular milk... Shouldn't take too long :) good luck
