Does anyone have any experience with so called gender selection methods?

I have 3 boys, and my husband and I are planning to start trying for a 4th child some time in the next couple years. My oldest son is 7, and I have 2 year old fraternal twin boys. We would be happy with a child of either sex or even another set of twins, but I'd really be over the moon to have a little girl. I heard from a neighbor that there are several natural gender selection methods that you can use to help increase your chances of having a girl. Has anyone had anyone experience in this area?

I know this is an old post but I wanted to comment anyways. I think the diet works or at least it worked for me. I had two beautiful boys and wanted a girl so badly. And my grandmother wanted me to have on to and her advice really helped (or so I think). My Grandmother lived on a dairy farm when she had her first Three girls. Raised pigs Had a boy went back to the dairy and had another girl. She claims it was the calcium in the dairy. And the wanted another boy so she cut out a lot of extra dairy and had a boy! So I thought Ok can't hurt to try. I started taking extra calcium vitamins about three months before trying to get pregnant and we had our little girl. I'm not claiming it will work for everyone but I believe it worked for me!! And Grandma!

I'm sorry, Liz. I meant that comment for Priscilla. Thank you for your comment though. I have read that some men actually are more genetically disposed to having children of one sex than the other. Are there more boys than girls in your husbands family? I hope you guys eventually get the little girl you want.

Liz, there are alot of articles on the net that talk about changing your diet to help make the pH of the vagina less acidic to promote conceiving a boy. I also have a book on the Shettles method that teaches you how to pinpoint your ovulation. It is actually kind of complicated in my opinion. Apparently when you want a little boy it is most important to have sex as close to the time of ovulation as possible and then for the next day or two afterward as well. For a little girl they recommend to have sex 2.5 to 3 days prior and then not again until several days post ovulation. This book I have on the Shettles method says when used consistently it is 75% to 90% effective. I posted this community hoping to find people who have had successes and failures. The book has a bunch of testimonials, but I think I'd believe it more if it came from a mom that I could ask questions and I knew what she had to say wasn't editted.

I have a friend who has told me that "boy sperm swim faster but girl sperm live longer" so therefore you would want to have sex a couple of days before ovulation to conceive a girl, and then not again for a few days (or use protection). This worked for her, however, this did not work for me! (Maybe my husband can only make boys!) But I would also love to hear what other people have to say about this! I have 3 boys also and would really like a girl!
