My son who is almost 5mths on the odd occasion wakes up in the early hours of the morning and starts chatting away to himself, he gets louder and louder. Does anyone else have a baby that does this if so what do you do, oh he sleeps in our room as we only have a 3bdrm house and i have two other kids.

My son has just turned one and he usually does this... often. He'll wake up and have a little talk with his teddies i think, we just tend to leave him be until he makes it obvious he wants something, for example - a drink, but most of the time he'll go back off to sleep by himself.

My almost four month old son does the same thing, except that he is definitely talking to his mobile, or the elephants on his border. He also sleeps like three feet from me, so it is hard to not be affected by it, I kind of let his just mumble to himself so that I can get my bearings, and possibly slip out undetected to go to the bathroom, then my husband or I will look in on him and usually jump in his "conversation." He loves it, and smiles so big. I know it isn't the best when this happens at 5 am, but what can you do about it? Especially if you're in the same room.

My daughter still does that and she is ten months now, alot of babies like to do it, they like playing by themselves for awhile to wake up properly i leave Madison to do that she lets me know when she wants or needs me. Madison loves to muck around on her own for half hour to an hour before she goes to sleep at night but in the morning its about 10 to 15 mins she hates it if i'm asleep when she isn't... lol... i could be awake and she will play in her Room or (cot) for hours at a time without wanting me to play with her.

Mine does that sometimes and I just lie there and enjoy it...he is in another room though. Eventually, his babbling turns to complaining so I go in his room and give him his soother and turn on a lullaby glow worm thing that plays for 5 minutes...usually, he's back to sleep in 1/2 hour...other then that, I'm not sure we can do anything.

My daughter is 16 months and still will do that sometimes. I just let her chat. She will go back to sleep after awhile. I'm sure that's not as easy when they are in a room with you. Could your other two children share a room so the baby can be moved into his own room and not bother anyone as much, or do you have one child who is a more sound sleeper than the other that the baby would be better sharing a room with?

I have 5 children, all are over the age of 11yrs old.. But they all did that hun, it's normal. the best thing you can do is let your son do it and try to go back to sleep. I know it's hard but as long as he is not crying, he is amusing himself which is a great thing you will find out later. With him being in your room it's harder to deal with because he is sure to wake you up but the only advice hun I can honestly give ya is just try to just go back to sleep you will soon sleep through the amuzing himself and only wake when he needs you. I know, my youngest daughter was in the room with me. It was hard but just be patient hun.
