Ear ache but no fever.

My 5 year old daughter has been saying her left ear hurts but she has no fever what so ever and when she was a baby she had quite a few ear infections and it was always accompanied by a fever and was when she had a cold or something. She sometimes says her head hurts and also has thrown up a couple of times in a one week time frame. Both times were in the morning. Otherwise she bounces around like she's totally fine and is her same silly usual self. Has anyone had their child have a feverless ear infection before? Or maybe it's just some fluid that built up behind the ear? We've been putting a cotton ball in her ear having her lay down on a heating pad at night to see it helps and last night I looked up some ways to clear the eustachian tubes like plugging the nose and swallowing and plugging the nose and closing the mouth and blowing. I haven't had her try chewing gum yet but if anyone has an idea or experience with this any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

All the time. My son NEVER showed any signs of ear infection until he was in severe pain (and twice his eardrum burst before I had any indication). No fever or anything at all. If she is complaining of ear ache, take her to get it checked out.
