So, I had my son 9 months ago by c-section. I had a very normal pregnancy with no problems till the end. since having my son I have really had a hard time with constipation. I eat a pretty well balanced diet, so I am not sure what is wrong. Has anyone had this problem and if so, now did you deal/fix it?

Go to a nutrio path and get acidophillus and probiotics- there is a range...one for small, one for large intestine, as well as saccaromyces for when you have had antibiotics. I struggled with that problem for years and finally have relief, jsut by taking 4 pills a day till they work and then one of each a day to maintain.

Kirstie, I don't know if I do or not. WE don't have insurance right now, so I can't go in but as soon as we get it again I will go in and get it checked. thank you all for your ideas it is nice to know I'm not the only one!

i am a fan of probiotics, they helped me! the BRAT diet that helps stop kids up when they have the opposite problem is high in fiber (fiber works both ways) maybe try doing soemthing like that for a couple days if you arent keen on homeopathic or medical things.

I drank aloe juice... for some reason it helped me with loose bowels and helped my daughter with severe constipation at the same time... it is meant to 'even out' your digestive system and keep it working properly from either extreme... completely natural... completely safe.

I thought i was the only one! I was badly constipated with haemroids, it was like going through labour again... i tore really bad too. If my daughter was crying i'd take her in with me because hearing her cry made me feek worse... I was eating so much metamucil and having 3 cups of green vegies a day and it still didnt help. After 6 months it finaly started getting better and all the exess fibre caught up with me :S

Do you have hemrroids?? I thought I was constipated and in so much pain and it turned out I had internal hemrroids from the birth. They gave me some suppositories and after about a week, it all went back to normal.

Amy, I also had a c-section and normal prergancy no issues. I started taking a stool softer before I left the hospital and Dolace was suggested to take there after. I was even told by the Dr's that it may take time for the body adjust back, IF it even does. I'm still dealing with the problem though I have had 2 c-sections one only being 20months ago..I continue to eat a balanced diet ( fiber, fiber)

Try taking Colace. I had the same problem - it was AWFUL especially since I had a vaginal delivery & a 3rd degree tear. I checked with the pedi & the OB - both assured me that it was safe while bf'ing. I took it every other day for about 8 wks after delivery. Then I took probiotic pills (also recommended by my daughter's pedi) every day for another 2 months. Really made a difference. GL!
