I have no idea what Farex is... but my son is 4 months old and I just started him on Rice cereal (mixed with breast milk). Its going great and they say to start with Rice cereal (which I also started my 2 1/2 year old on rice cereal as well)

No. We tried to start with cereal but it made him extremely constipatecd and he absolutely hated it, it was a nightmare. The doctor told us to move onto veggies, just do one at a time so you can look for allergies. Then after youve gone through all the veggies, start fruits. That way your baby doesnt get hooked on the sweet stuff. Rice cereal is just a filler it has no nutritional value

I started with avocado then fruits and vegetables, I tried farex once, my daughter gagged the whole time, I used to add a tiny bit after she was 6 months to her fruit, just for the iron. Most people start with it at 6 months because of the iron content and it is usually easy on babies tummies. When babies are 6 months the iron stores in their bodies begin to reduce, hence the extra iron needed.

I have no clue what Farex is... For both my kids they ate rice cereal from the beginning of solids and i tried changing my son to oatmeal but he had a gluten allergy so it was back to rice for him and so i never really tried my daughter on it. Rice cereal is a smooth texture so i think it's needed to get them used to the texture. Remember to make sure it's VERY runny when first starting this.
