Feeling distant from husband

I've been a stay at home mom since my son was born, so for almost a year. While its been an adjustment for me, I feel like my husband doesn't fully understand and appreciate what I do. It seems like we have grown apart. At first I thought it was us just trying to adjust to our new roles, but now it's coming to a year and I feel like we've become different people. He's seems more annoyed and impatient, while I feel useless and pathetic. My husband is a good man, hard worker, and wants nothing but the best for us, but something is off with him, or us. Is this normal?

Nikki,
Having a baby changes so much in a marriage. Being a parent requires a lot of patience and self-sacrifice to meet the child's needs, and I think we change as people when we become parents because our focus and our priorities change. In order to keep marriages growing, we have to take time out for our spouse and communicate with one another about daily life. Is it possible for you to get a baby sitter and go somewhere with your husband where you can both talk about your day-to-day experiences and concerns? If you have difficulties doing this as a couple, is there an older, trusted relative or friend or counselor who can help you see each other's points of view? Being a wife and mother takes a lot of work. Praying you find a balance in your roles and time in your days just for your spouse.

Blessings,
Christy

I think the stress of a young baby has taken a lot out of your marriage. When you have a newborn It is very easy to focus on the baby and put your marriage aside. What you need is some time alone on dates, find a sitter, and go away to invest in your marriage. The more you invest in It, you will communicate more. There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding and not enough quality time between the two of you. Marriage is like a bank, if you keep withdrawing It will eventually run dry.
