Feeling overworked and underappreciated.....

My husband seems to think that when I say I need a break from the kiddos I should get used to being a mommy and just get over it. He never sees other moms have it so difficult.. I do get to stay home all day and do nothing right? How do other moms get there much needed breaks from mommyland when there is no support to take them? I should mention our kids are 19(moved out but still my baby) 11, 7, and 2. And no, the 19 year old would murder them if I let her babysit.

I think it's "a man thing" but an incredibly annoying one!! I'm convinced they genuinely do not understand-in the same way they don't see dust or ironing needing put away etc! Give the household and kids to him for a weekend while you take yourself away for a spa or shopping trip or just a fun girlie time to refuel etc and let him see how hard it is. Leave a list of all the chores needing done-and detail it ie-ironing put away in correct places etc or you will find it all thrown in the bottom of the wardrobe lol. Good luck!!

You might try getting getting your husband to babysit for a full day - take yourself off for a day of rest and relaxation with one of your girl friends or even just by yourself. The point is to get out of the house and force him to look after the three kids at home by himself. That will give you a much needed break and be an eye opener for him as to what you go through when you stay home all day and "do nothing". Give him a list of all things you do in between looking after the kids (laundry, dishes, picking up etc) and see how much he gets done - probably not much as it takes a fair amount of practice and organizational skills to get anything done while looking after kids. I have only two - a son aged 2 and a bit and a daughter seven months old so I hear you - I don't want to even think about adding more to my work load right now so hats off to you for managing four!
