Finding a good baby sitter

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

Hello ladies! My hubby and I are pretty much without family in this town so I need to find a baby sitter I can rely on. Before Luca was born we said we would want to have a date night once a week since he works a lot and I am in the house with the little one all the time. We felt like it would be important to our marriage.

Well, now Luca is 3 months old and I honestly didn't even have the desire to look for one yet but I feel like my husband needs some alone time with me so ladies, any advice on how to go about finding a good baby sitter?

I actualy talked up the moms and also my daughters ped. they all knew someone they trusted. It might work for you.

Ask other mom's you know. They may be able to recommend someone or be willing to trade a night here and there with you. Also, your husband should ask people with kids he knows from work the same thing. If you've got a recreation center that offers babysitting courses and safety courses for sitters, talk to the instructors. Ask the women at the park, some may be only daytime nannies and could be willing to come sit for you for an evening. Ask at your child's doctor's office, the nurses there usually have loads of info about that. Also, what about maybe having a date night at home with your potential sitter? They take care of baby while you and hubby have dinner, desert, and watch a movie.

Just a few ideas. Good luck.

ask other moms in in your block who they use and get references.
If the sitter is a teen or something, talk to their parents too, find out what kind of kid they are. Also, you could talk to daycares to see if they have references for night/evening sitters or facility for date nites.
