Hello everyone! I'm a first time mom and just gave birth to twin girls a month and a half ago. My problem is that, I don't know how to manage my time for household chores and taking care of my newborn twins especially now that our helper left. Any tips? My husband is working and most of my relatives are busy. I don't know who to turn to. My friends are working too and my parents are abroad. I really get frustrated when I see pile of clothes waiting to be washed and our food are mostly ready to eat since I don't have time to cook myself. Any tips or suggestions on how can I do both household chores and taking care of my newborn twins and husband? Thanks!

Doy

Hi. I'm a fellow mom who was overwhelmed too.

You have newborns, two, so don't be so hard on yourself.

I suggest that if you can, do laundry when your husband is home so you can have help with the twins if necessary, AND pile your laundry into white, colors, darks, as you guys are removing them, and tossing them into the laundry baskets.

As far as your meals. Keep it simple preparations type staple meals; even if it means you guys have to eat the same thing week by week for the time being. Cook crock pot meals too. They don't cost much to make, you just chop things up, and chicken stock broth base type, and it cooks all day and ready by dinner. Plus I learned from the ishio method rehab program, that brothy food are really important to help with getting your pre-pregnancy hormones back to normal.

You pacing yourself is the priority. Your body, (and mind), are still recovering.

Hi Doy,

And congratulations! :) Your twin girls are surely the sweetest things on earth! :)

Personally I would work on the 'getting frustrated' part! Cut yourself some slack. Taking care of a newborn is time consuming already. Twins? You must have a lot on your hands, especially if you don't have help readily available.

Do what you can when you can. Get as many helpful tips as you can and slowly put some strategies into place to handle both the twins and the chores. But most importantly don't be too hard on yourself and be okay with things not being perfect and tidy for now.
