I have a 3 year old and a 19month old. The dentist recommends using toothpaste with no fluoride, because they are not good spiters. Tap water has some fluoride. however we have moved and now have cistern water that doesn't have fluoride. Should I use toothpaste with fluoride or not?

I have 5 children and never used fluoride. Read some of the literature about fluoride and you will make an informed decision. Also, never give milk, apple juice or any other sweet drink before bed. I used to play a fun game of swishing water in the mouth and spitting it out, so that their teeth and gums are clean. The kids love the spitting!!

i was told by my son dentist at 2 they can use fluoride but not before an he told me that he had to use, which i dont think sounds right because like you said there not the greatest spitters when there toddler i no that if my son cant spit it all out when he turns two that im going to stick with fluoride free till he can do it good

You could try calling the dentist and see if they will answer the question over the phone.
