How many other moms freeze or can foods, and what do you freeze/can. I usually freeze corn, green peppers, stuffed green peppers, strawberries, and strawberry jam. I usually can tomato juice, tomato soup, green beans, pickled banana peppers (ocassionally jalopenos), hot pepper mustard, and applesauce. I've canned pears once, but haven't done it again. This year I'm thinking of trying some salsa and spaghetti sauce also.

I freeze fruit, make jam, pickles, etc. Last year I made salsa and spaghetti sauce. It worked, but I think I'll find a different recipe this year. We're working on thinning our strawberries in the freezer right now. We've been using them only sparingly all winter, but in 2 months they'll be here again! :) Yay, spring!

I am a personal chef by trade and a sahm of an 18mo boy and expecting baby #2. On my off days, I will cook enough meals for 1 month, put them in the freezer so when we have a busy schedule I can just pull one out! They make life easier! I also can fruit, veggies and sauces when I get the time.

I make freezer meals. I made 15 last time I did this (about 2 months ago) and was planning on using them every other day. They were a life saver when my hubby had an accident and subsequent surgery. I have not been able to make that many again but I do freeze cooked shredded chicken and cooked ground beef. They make meal prep super fast. I also freeze bananas, my kids love frozen bananas (unpeeled of course) and eat them as snacks (i cut the banana into three for freezing). I am going too learn to bottle chicken so we'll see how that goes.

My son was a preemie, he's 6 now and everything is fine but on occassion he will end up sick and we end up in the hospital so I always have to have some "backup" plan for the unexpected, soups are a good one to freeze ahead, as well as meatballs for pasta, casseroles. etc

I usually have some chili and veggie soup in the freezer too, I just don't make it specially for freezing. I just make extras when I make them for supper, and freeze the leftovers.

I recommend doing the salsa and Spaghetti sauce, we also do Barbecue sauce anything we can make in bulk and can or freeze we do, it helps for those "hurried" dinners or for when something comes up unexpectedly. I make sure to always have something on hand the husband can make in a pinch if i end up with a sick child. Good luck!
