From Stay at home mom to working mom. How does one make this transition simpler?

I am thinking of going back to full time employment but am finding too many reasons why not to. Or am I really just being lazy? We have 3 girls under the age of 5. My main concern is where to find the mental energy to handle a full time job (teacher) and my children after a full day's work. Any hints?

I don't think your being lazy i worked for the first two years of my sons life and a single mom. Not only did i miss big milestones in his life but i was so worn out and never had the energy to do a whole lot with him when i got home. The truth of the matter is You will have two full time jobs and one is 24 hours there is nothing you can change on one if a child is sick and is up all night you will be up all night and will be tired taking care of your other 30 children in your class If you dont have to i wouldnt

I was also a teacher before I was a SAHM. It really is an exhausting job. Rewarding and fun...but exhausting. If you miss teaching, maybe you could tutor out of your home in the afternoons. I know parents that pay $30/hour to have their child tutored by a certified teacher.

Think of this also...if you go back you'll have to pay for childcare. I don't know what it costs in your area, but if I had to pay for 3 children in daycare, it would be more than 3/4 of my monthly income as a teacher. To me that is NOT worth the time away from my kids or the stress. And when you think about it, the other 1/4 of that paycheck would go towards work clothes, classroom supplies, eating out more, and gas. Totally not worth it!

If you don't have to go back to work, don't. Stay home with your girls. It's not a matter of being lazy. And if you're a teacher, you're going to wear yourself out. I taught before kids and I can't imagine doing that and being the best mom I can be. My personal opinion is that being a stay at home mom is the best thing for children and our society would be much better off if more moms did. Being a full time mom is a full time job plus some.
