Send him to bed, but doesn't go to sleep. Sometimes 2 am. But when I go to sleep in the same room he does. Any tips?

You need to figure out exactly how much sleep your child needs and set his bedtime based on both that, and when he wakes up in the morning. If he's sleeping in until 10am he probably isn't tired until midnight.

If you want him to fall asleep at 9pm or 10pm start waking him up earlier. Have some active days where he gets lots of exercise and time outside to help his internal clock reset.

The thing is, if he's sleeping until 10am, and going to bed at 9pm, he only has eleven hours of activity during the day to get tired, and it's just not enough. He needs something closer to 13 to 15 hours of daytime activity.

@ Chet
He doesn't get up on his own. Its summer, so he's waking up around 9 or 10am. Putting him to bed at 9 or 10pm. He just lays there singing a fav song, but when I'm there, he knows to stay silent and just goes to sleep. Takes about half hour or so.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

What time is he getting up in the morning? Does he get up on his own? Is he tired?

What does he do when he's awake until 2am?

What happens if you stay with him until he actually falls asleep?

I meant I find him awake at 2am. Significant other and I take turns putting him to sleep at appropriate time. Takes about an hour. Thanx.
